In 2016, steeplechase racing trainers have been asked to nominate participants for the NSF International Developing Rider Trip to Ireland taking place in July. Four participants will be chosen by a committee of the NSF.
The NSF International Developing Rider Trip is a 7-day experience that will take place in Ireland during July 2016 (exact dates TBD). It is structured towards providing the participant with a hands-on, in-depth experience of what steeplechase racing is like in Ireland. It is for young persons who are experienced working and riding for steeplechase trainers and who have some racing experience. The ideal candidate will have expressed interest in pursuing a career as a steeplechase jockey or trainer.
Activities include visiting Coolmore and Ballydole, riding out for trainers (such as Ende Boulger, Edward O’Grady, Pat Doyle, Fozzy Stack, etc), attending lectures and discussion sessions with trainers, jockeys, owners and stewards, and attending the races at Galway and Courtmacsherry.
Trainers are required to send their nominations by July 1, 2016. Decisions will be made quickly as the trip will take place later in the month.
